I get this question a lot – when should I book a newborn session? Ideally, newborn photographers suggest booking during your second trimester. Booking early ensures your spot on my calendar and it is one less thing to worry about once your baby comes. I have a large family with kids in activities, so it is much easier for me to plan around newborn sessions when I have advance notice. With short notice, I am often not available.

If you’re in your third trimester or your baby has already arrived, don’t be shy to reach out! I may have an opening on my calendar. If I am unavailable, I often help by providing the names of other photographers who may have availability.

If your baby arrives before your due date, you still have priority on my calendar if you booked with me early. The best thing to do in this situation is to keep me in the loop and contact me as soon as the baby arrives.

So what do you need to do to be booked and added to my calendar? To book a newborn session, I would send you a contract to sign and you would pay half the session fee. Once those are completed, you are booked and on my calendar! The rest of your session fee is due the week of your newborn session. I will also send a questionnaire to customize your session and a newborn prep/what-to-expect guide.
