I had a little fun with my daughter recently on a rainy weekend – I pulled out my wedding dress, veil, rings, and accessories and created these beautiful images! I didn’t shoot these until she was 8 weeks old – I was just too exhausted at the beginning to do much. All I can say about being exhausted after having a baby is gosh, was I reminded again how rough it is right after giving birth and how I love being able to let my clients sit back and relax while I capture pictures of their newborn for them!
Anyway – I got creative with wanting to incorporate not only my wedding dress, but also my veil and accessories. With her being older I knew I needed to wrap her for most of the images which actually turned out perfectly so I could get more variety in a quicker time frame and I think her wrapped with my wedding dress looks stunning! The bum up pose of her laying on my wedding dress was hard work with her being 8 weeks old – I had to make sure she was extremely sleepy and I actually tried a few separate times until she would stay asleep while I could slowly position her. Hence why newborn photographers try to capture newborn babies between 6-14 weeks old – they’re so much easier to get into sleepy, non wrapped positions.
Below you will see the beautiful wedding themed images I captured of my sweet daughter and I added a few comments with some tricks that helped me for fellow newborn photographers viewing these images. Enjoy and be sure to comment which one is your favorite!
Wrapped on wedding dress – there’s a pillow in the dress to help position her head. I added lace around her wrap to help it look more elegant.:
Potato sack pose in wedding dress – I had a door draft guard in the dress to make a donut shape inside to help stabilize her. She’s wrapped like the image just below this one inside the dress.:
Bum up on wedding dress – I put a crate inside my dress for her to lay on and added that cream pillow with the material being rough by her head. My assistant (aka husband) is holding the dress up.:
Another wrapped on wedding dress – I have her laying on the Perfect Posie that’s inside the dress:
