Newborn photographers have been shut down in Texas for the month of April due the the non-essential business restrictions. As I am enjoying this little break from work and spending more time with my family, I really do miss photographing babies! During this uncertain time, newborn families have so many things to stress out about…but getting memorable photos of their sweet baby will not be one of them with me. I will still be able to capture beautiful pictures of your little one even if we have to wait a little longer…no matter if he/she is 2 weeks, 1 month, or 2 months old.
When families welcome a newborn baby they often do not leave the house much for the first few months except for doctor visits and their baby’s newborn photo session. Usually parents that come to my studio for their newborn sessions are excited to leave the house and put on normal clothes, but that’s just not the case for newborn families at the moment.
So, some newborns may end up coming to me as old as 2 months for their session…and that’s totally fine! I will still be able to capture adorable memories of your sweet baby. I am experienced in photographing many older babies due them coming to me after an extended NICU stay, Mom needed extra time to recover, or parents didn’t realize the newborn photo window and contacted me after baby was a few weeks old.
With my years of photographing newborns and training, I will be fully prepared to photograph your newborn if he/she is an older newborn baby. The biggest difference in photographing an older baby is he/she may need extra time and patience to fall asleep and be soothed, so often these sessions may run a little longer. As a former elementary teacher of eight years, having multiple backup plans ready to go is what I am used to. I always go off how baby is doing once he/she arrives and then decide on which set up to start with. Baby may arrive totally awake and alert or ready to eat and fall asleep. I would like to point out that one of the cutest shots I get to capture with older babies is the adorable awake shots with their better eye contact (a lot less crossed-eyes)…and awake shots are always one of Mom and Dad’s favorite shots.
So, enjoy the newborn snuggles with your baby and once I am able to photograph your little one, we will set up a session date as soon as possible. If you are an inquiring client, do not hesitate to reach out to set up your session. Booked clients get priority over last minute inquiries so it’s best to get on my calendar ASAP.
*The photos included in this blog are all of babies between 1-2 months old.*
