Holden’s newborn session was very memorable and included some fun, sentimental items from his parents, Ashley and Robbie. They are such sweet parents that love this little boy so much! All the memorable moments I’m about to mention are included below in this blog.
First off, Holden was a pretty big baby – birth weight was 9lbs, 15oz. I love working with bigger babies – they’re so cuddly! I had a newborn outfit picked out that I had recently purchased from Beautiful Photo Props (see it here), but once I saw Holden in person I knew it wasn’t going to work. I just so happen to have a bigger outfit that would normally fit a 6 month old baby boy – whew! I didn’t think I’d ever use it for a newborn session, but I was wrong! It fit him perfectly!
We also incorporated a dress shirt from Holden’s great-grandfather – whom he received his middle name from, Douglas. His great-grandfather always had his initials on his shirts, so I made sure you could see the initials in both shots I took of him wearing it. I wrapped the shirt around Holden while he was in the potato sack pose and he looks like such a cute little guy – especially with all that hair. I also incorporated it with the chin on hands pose.
Another item we added into his newborn session was Scrabble letters. We used these letters during their maternity session as well so it was fun to add it to the side of a crate during a prop shot. It’s little touches like these that make sessions stand out and more special for parents.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we involved their dog, Lexie, in their maternity and newborn sessions. I shot their maternity session at Erwin Park (check it out here) and took their family pictures at their house in Prosper. Lexie was very well-trained. I got the family set up by Holden’s crib, then she just jumped into the picture for a quick shot – perfect!
I’m looking forward to seeing Holden for his 6 month milestone photo session soon! I can’t wait to see him smiling and all that beautiful, dark hair again!
