I have a home studio in Prosper, Texas, which is near Frisco, McKinney, and the Denton area. My studio is in a private mother-in-law suite and has its own entrance. Having my studio separate from my home ensures a cozy, clean, and calm environment. I am specifically located in West Prosper, just north of Frisco off 380 and Teel Road.
Before your session, I will provide you with a detailed Prep/What to Expect Guide. This guide includes studio information, a packing list, how to prepare the baby before the session, how to prepare for your session, wardrobe suggestions, and more. The guide does have a lot of information and suggestions, but I do remind my clients that they are suggestions and sometimes even the most well-prepared babies may not cooperate as well as we hoped they would, but that’s okay! Do what you can to prepare and enjoy your newborn baby!
Here are the newborn session-specific tips I have in my guide:
-During your session, I will have your baby’s safety in mind at all times. I may ask you to assist me by spotting your baby while I take a shot or while I set something up, but most of the time you will sit back, relax, and watch.
-Not all babies like certain poses so I may change a pose if the baby is extremely resistant. Should the baby be extremely fussy or inconsolable, I may need to do more setups of baby-wrapped or semi-wrapped than originally planned. I go off their lead.
-Our session may run through lunch, so feel free to bring any snacks or food. I will have light snacks and beverages available, along with a refrigerator and microwave.
-The room will be nice and toasty warm as we want the baby to be comfortable sleeping in the nude. I recommend wearing light clothing to stay comfortable and avoid overheating. I will use white noise and vibration to help settle the baby. I will use a pacifier if your baby takes one, but I do not use one in most of my newborn sessions.
-It is hard to avoid accidents with a naked baby around – please don’t get flustered if the baby pees or poops on any of my props, blankets, or even on me. It’s not the first time and it certainly won’t be the last!
-Newborn sessions involve a lot of time soothing and perfecting poses. Don’t be surprised if only about 10% of the time is spent actually taking pictures; this is completely normal!
